On this day in Carbonear history:

On this day in Carbonear history:
In the early hours of Friday, June 25, 1904, a tragic fire destroyed the post office building and took the life of one of Carbonear residents.
Tryphoena Nicholl, Carbonear Post Office postmistress, gave her life saving two people who had been trapped in the fire in the building.
In 1905, the new building was erected, now known as the Old Post Office Museum and a Memorial to Tryphoena Nicholl was placed in front of the building. This Memorial can now be found in the green space next to the Old Post Office Museum.
