The prep work for the long awaited Carbonear Downtown Revitalization Project has begun. Temporary waterlines have been installed and should be put into service by the end of this week. Starting Monday, April 29, 2019 the actual ground breaking for this project will begin.
The phase one portion of this undertaking is approximately $2.25 million dollars and is funded by the Federal, Provincial and Municipal governments. The area involved in phase one is from the train station building to the Canada Post building on Water Street.
During this time, the businesses in the Downtown area will continue to operate and be OPEN FOR BUSINESS. As you can appreciate, the amount of activity related to this project will ultimately affect residents and businesses in the immediate area. Rest assure, the Town of Carbonear and the contractor will continue to work with all to make this project proceed as smoothly as possible. Once completed, the Downtown Revitalization Project will benefit all of Carbonear and surrounding areas and will draw on tourism from across Canada and around the world.
