The Town of Carbonear continues to provide essential services during this Public Health Emergency but remain committed to the health and safety of our employees. The Covid-19 situation continues to evolve and the town continues to monitor the situation and make changes to work practices for the safety of our employees.
For the information of the public, staff are working at reduced hours and each work site has two shifts with staff practicing physical distancing to allow for continued provision of essential services.
An example of these measures related to public works staff includes the staff being divided into two shifts reducing the number of staff working on each shift. This also allows each staff person to travel alone in a vehicle, reducing contact between staff. If more than one employee is required to address a task, they have been informed that physical distancing is required for their safety in accordance with provincial and federal government directives.
There may be occasions, when required, where you will see more than one employee at a work site, each in a separate vehicle, but this is in accordance with current practices for the health and safety of our staff during this Public Health Emergency.
The Town would like to thank its staff who are continuing to work to provide essential services to its residents during these very uncertain times when everyone is concerned for their health and safety. We appreciate your dedication and commitment!
The residential drop-off area at Harbour Grace Waste Recovery Facility on Incinerator Road is closed to the public until further notice.
