Please Note:

The Town of Carbonear continues to provide essential services during this Public Health Emergency but remain committed to the health and safety of our employees. The Covid-19 situation continues to evolve and the town continues to monitor the situation and make changes to work practices for the safety of our employees.

For the information of the public, staff are working at reduced hours and each work site has two shifts with staff practicing physical distancing to allow for continued provision of essential services.
An example of these measures related to public works staff includes the staff being divided into two shifts reducing the number of staff working on each shift. This also allows each staff person to travel alone in a vehicle, reducing contact between staff. If more than one employee is required to address a task, they have been informed that physical distancing is required for their safety in accordance with provincial and federal government directives.

There may be occasions, when required, where you will see more than one employee at a work site, each in a separate vehicle, but this is in accordance with current practices for the health and safety of our staff during this Public Health Emergency.

The Town would like to thank its staff who are continuing to work to provide essential services to its residents during these very uncertain times when everyone is concerned for their health and safety. We appreciate your dedication and commitment!

16th Annual Sam Jeffers Memorial Ride – Saturday, September 21, 2019

NOTICE
On Saturday September 21st, 2019 it will be the 16th running of the annual Constable Sam Jeffers Memorial Ride from St. John’s to Carbonear/Freshwater via Whitbourne (Monty’s North Atlantic) and the New Harbour-Tilton barrens. Once again, this special Motorcycle Ride will be escorted by both the RNC and RCMP (please refer to Media Release below).
We have always had great support for this event especially from the local motorcycle community and the various branches of the uniformed services, and many people in eastern Newfoundland still remember that fateful day in September 1957 when Constable Sam Jeffers was knocked off of his motorcycle while on duty at Rawlin’s Cross in St. John’s.
