Proclamation declaring the week of May 6-12th as the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Mental Health Week.

The CMHA Health Week promotes mental health awareness across Newfoundland and Labrador through activities and events.

Please Note the following detour for Tuesday, May 7th, 2019.:

Water Street will be closed from Adelaide Street to O’Donovan’s Lane.

Detour signs will be posted along the detour route.

Construction crews are working in a couple of areas this morning.

Crews are digging at the intersection of Bannerman Street and Water Street. Therefore, traffic is detoured up Bannerman Street.

More digging is happening between Adelaide Street and O’Donovan’s Lane. Therefore, for a portion of the day, traffic travelling east on Water Street will be detoured thru Adelaide Street. We will update once this portion of the street is open.

Welcon Construction is continuing work on Crossroads Bridge. Crossroads Bridge is closed to traffic.

Thank you for your patience during these projects!

The construction is moving along on Water Street. Crews are finished up removing asphalt from the road to begin underground work on sections of the street.

Digging will begin on Wednesday, May 1st, 2019 in front of the Carbonear Railway Station. The first section will be from the area in front of the Carbonear Railway Station to Adelaide Street.

Therefore, there will be detours on Wednesday.

Traffic will be detoured to Pike’s Lane and be able to access Water Street through side streets ie. O’Donovan’s.

The map illustrates the detour and the portion of the road closure.

Green fencing has also been posted to provide pedestrians with walking access as the work continues.

Carbonear gears up for work this spring on downtown revitalization project

Schedule of Events Winter Carnival

Get those cameras clicking and send us your best winter photo taken during 2019. There are three categories: Best Winter Scenery, Best Winter Pet Photo and Best Family Fun Photo. Pictures can be dropped off at the Town Council Office or emailed to info@carbonear.ca. Winning Photos will be posted on the Town’s website. No professional photos please. Judging will take place February 20. Photos must be pertaining to Carbonear and may be used for promotional purposes throughout the year.
