The Town of Carbonear will be conducting water main flushing starting September 14, 2020 September 14-23: (Areas West of the Community Centre and north of Island Pond Brook) September 24- October 5 (St Clare Ave and areas between Chapel Hill and Crocker's Cove) October 6 October 14 (Southside of Carbonear including Powell Drive to Saddle Hill. Also, Pondside Road and London Road including connecting streets and Forest Road).

In 2003, the Newfound Riders motorcycle riding club established a memorial ride from St. John’s to Carbonear to honour the death of former Newfoundland Constabulary officer, Samuel Jeffers, who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident while on duty in St. John’s in the 1950s. A reminder to residents that the bulk collection is schedule to take place as follows: September 30 - Carbonear (East of Bunker's Hill) Residents must have items curbside/roadside by 7 a.m. on the day collection begins. It may take a number of days for bulk items to be collected from all residences.

The Carbonear Volunteer Fire Department will host a Drive-thru Open House on Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. on the Civic Centre parking lot. They will be setting up their equipment for the general public to view. Anyone who would like to view their equipment are asked to follow COVID-19 guidelines by remaining in your vehicle. Across Canada Trek Walking Program 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Where: Walking track at the Carbonear Recreation Complex Come by as we attempt to walk across Canada. The Walking group will record their kilometers to try to accomplish a cross Canada walk. As we hit each province as a milestone we will celebrate as a group. All ages welcome!
