17th ANNUAL CONSTABLE SAM JEFFERS RIDE- Moved to Sunday, September 20, 2020 due to weather forecast
September 20, 2020 @ 11:30 am - 12:00 pm
In 2003, the Newfound Riders motorcycle riding club established a memorial ride from St. John’s to Carbonear to honour the death of former Newfoundland Constabulary officer, Samuel Jeffers, who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident while on duty in St. John’s in the 1950s.
On Saturday September 19th, 2020, the Annual Constable Sam Jeffers’ Memorial Motorcycle Ride will start at 10 o’clock, rain or shine, from the Newfoundland and Labrador Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial at Confederation Building’s East Parking Lot. The Ride will travel with police escort to Monty’s North Atlantic gas station in Whitbourne before heading across the Tilton Barrens to Carbonear. After a short ceremony hosted by the Town of Carbonear, the Ride passes through Constable Jeffers’ home town of Freshwater before returning to the capital city via the Conception Bay, Route 60, coastal road.
