Public Notice:
Proposed Amendments to the Municipal Plan and Development Regulations General Development Standards

Council is considering an amendment to the Municipal Plan and three amendments to the General Development Standards of the Development Regulations.  In general terms, the amendments would provide greater clarity and flexibility in the application of the Development Regulations by:

• Allowing Council to recognize existing yard setbacks on single or double dwellings that existed prior to December 24, 2004
• Clarifying which architectural features and accessibility improvements may project into required yard setbacks.
• Clarifying Council’s authority to establish or re-establish building lines for individual streets or lots and to require new buildings to be located in accordance with those building lines.

The proposed amendments and additional information regarding the process are available at the Town Hall (256 Water Street) or can be viewed and downloaded from the Town’s website at carbonear.ca/draft-municipal-plan-info-and-notices/

Council will accept feedback on the proposal until October 2, 2026
