Press Release for Immediate Release: The Town of Carbonear received a rating of 5 Blooms and a special mention for Community Garden during the 2024 Communities in Bloom Symposium and Awards Ceremonies
On October 20th, the 30th Edition of the Communities in Bloom National & International Awards Ceremonies were held in the City of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, honouring municipalities across Canada, Ireland, Italy, Hungary,and the United States of America.

The Town of Carbonear received a rating of 5 Blooms and a special mention for Community Garden during the 2024 Communities in Bloom Symposium and Awards Ceremonies in the City of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. The Town of Carbonear participated in the Atlantic Edition – Population Evaluated category along with Alnwick NB; Chipman NB; Come By Chance NL; Mahone Bay NS; Miramichi NB; New Maryland NB; Pilley’s Island NL; and Woodstock NB. The community also received an Outstanding Achievement Award for The Butchart Gardens Land Reclamation Award.
Over the summer, trained volunteer judges travelled to participating communities to evaluate the overall contributions of municipal council and departments; industry; businesses and the private sector – including volunteer efforts – regarding the following criteria: Community Appearance, Environmental Action, Heritage Conservation, Tree Management, Landscape and Plant & Floral Displays.
