Nominations for the 2025 Municipal Election Update

Sam Slade has been acclaimed as Mayor for the Town of Carbonear.

The Town of Carbonear has received nominations from nine candidates for the six available councillor positions. Listed in alphabetical order by surname, the candidates are:

* Julia Parsons

* Rebecca Parsons

* Stephen Penney

* Wendy Penney

* Malcolm Seymour

Key Dates

  • Nomination Day: September 4, 2025 (8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Town Hall)

  • Advance Poll: September 27, 2025  (8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Town Hall)

  • General Municipal Election Day: October 2, 2025

Who Can Vote

You can vote if you are:

  • A Canadian citizen
  • 18 years of age on election day
  • Ordinarily a resident of the Town of Carbonear 30 days prior to election day

How to Vote

If you are on the list, ID is not required to vote, but bring it just in case. If you are not on the list and need to register at the polls, you will need:

  • Photo ID (e.g., driver’s license)
  • Proof of address (same ID can often satisfy both)

If you can’t vote on election day, or simply prefer to vote early, you can cast your ballot ahead of time. This is open to all eligible voters.
