DESCRIPTION:The Town of Carbonear proclaimed May 8\, 2026 as World Ovarian Cancer Day at the Regular Council Meeting on Tuesday\, April 28\, 2026\n\n\nWorld Ovarian Cancer Day\nMay 8\, 2026\n\n\nWhereas Ovarian Cancer has no early detection testing\, and\nWhereas Ovarian Cancer symptoms are often confused with other less severe illnesses\, and\nWhereas Ovarian Cancer has the lowest survival rate of all female cancers\, and\nWhereas as many as 23 percent of women with Ovarian Cancer have an inherited genetic mutation\, and\nWhereas genetic testing is a way to identify people at high risk before they develop Ovarian Cancer\n\n\nNOW\, THEREFORE\, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I\, Sam Slade\, Mayor of the Town of Carbonear do hereby proclaim Friday\, May 8\, 2026\, World Ovarian Cancer Day.\n\n\nI encourage all citizens of the Town of Carbonear and the province\, to talk to their health providers about Ovarian Cancer and seek to learn more about the disease.\n\n\nFor more information\, please visit: https://ovariancanada.org/
